'Jesus Will' Finds Placement On Prominent Playlists

The anticipated single of the summer for Sean Rodriguez, "Jesus Will," released to a worldwide streaming audience this past Friday, receiving prominent playlist placements headlined by leading platform Spotify.

The Swedish-based streaming service—the largest on the planet with 150-million subscribers (Jan. 2024)—placed "Jesus Will" in its All New Christian & Gospel playlist, a weekly editorial list highlighting the best new releases in the Christian genre. Formerly known as New Music Friday Christian, the playlist currently has an audience of 334K+ followers.

"Jesus Will" was also added to the Sing A New Song playlist, another mainstay editorial list in the Christian genre on Spotify, boasting 102K+ followers. Other familiar artists currently on the playlist are Jordan Feliz, Danny Gokey, Forrest Frank, Austin French, Matthew West, and Seph Schlueter, among others.

"Jesus Will" is the sixth single released by Sean Rodriguez in 2024, and the third to be featured on the upcoming Jesus Will EP expected in early 2025. Followed by EP singles "House of God" (Jun. 14) and "Honey" (Apr. 25), "Jesus Will" is the singer-songwriter's most vulnerable release to date. Written after the unexpected passing of a close family member, the song captures Rodriguez in the dichotomy between grief and joy: Mourning a loss, but celebrating a life now realizing the glory of heaven.

"The lyrics of ‘Jesus Will’ [were written to be] shared with someone [who has been] hurting,” he says of the song’s inspiration. “I want this track to offer truth, hope, promise, and comfort for those who might be contemplating turning away from God.”

Rodriguez's foray into editorial playlist placements began with his worldwide debut single, "Step Into My Story" (Jun. 10, 2022) when—known then as "Sean BE"—the single made its appearance on New Music Friday Christian within the list's Top 10 slots. This year's first release, "The Unbelievable" (Jan. 19)—his first as "Sean Rodriguez"—was featured on Spotify's Top Christian Contemporary playlist (360K+ followers) for a total of 42 days, in addition to its appearance on All New Christian & Gospel during release week.

A Spanish version of "Jesus Will," "Jesús Lo Hará" (Jesus Will), is expected to release to all streaming platforms on Friday, August 9, 2024.
